About agility:

Of all the canine disciplines available to dog folk, agility is perhaps the most accessible to everyone and great fun. Our Weimaraners are born athletes and agility provides a great way of stimulating them both mentally and physically. Indeed, it's a great way to keep us in shape too! Agility entails teaching your dog to negotiate the many obstacles that you will find on an agility course. These include hurdles, tyre, weave poles, long jump, spread jump, tunnels, Dog Walk, A-Frame, seesaw etc. Once you have mastered all the obstacles you may then want to proceed to entering competitions.

There are different levels of agility classes at agility tests ranging from Elementary for newcomers, right up to Championship level. Although there has been no Weimaraner at Champonship level as yet, there are several Weimaraners competing at Intermediate level and even a few competing at Senior level, proving that our Breed is certainly sometimes a match for the Border Collies/Working Sheepdogs which dominate the Sport. There are even some special A.B.C classes for Anything But Collies to enter, helping to attract different Breeds to the Sport.

Not everyone aspires to reaching competition level and there is no reason why you cannot simply attend regular agility classes, just for the fun of it. If you would like more information on how to get started in Agility or to find your nearest Agility Training Club, please contact:
