History of the SE Branch
History
In April 1986 an invitation was sent out to all Weimaraner Club members
living in the South East to attend a meeting with a view to set up an
ancillary branch to specifically serve those members.
•
April 1987 a further meeting was held in Maidstone chaired by Mr Kevin
Grewcock, area representative. Rules were adopted from the main club.
•
July 1987 was the first branch meeting held in Maidstone. It was chaired
by Nicky Fussell and attended by the original committee: K. Brooking,
S. Carter, I. Brooks, L. Brown, C. Hill, T. Julier, B. Von Dwingelo Luten,
J. Lawrence, S. Pike and P. LeMon. In this year approximately 150 members
had joined the branch.
A variety of events were run including a Christmas
Dinner Dance, Clay Pigeon shoot, Fun Day, Seminars, Matches and Training
Days.
The branch has continued to run successful events for the last 23 years
and will continue to do so for the benefit of their branch members. After
all, we could not do it without them!
For the year of 2010 we have a completely new committee who will continue
to run the branch as successfully as it has been over the past 20+ years.
Over the last 12 months we have run the Fun Day in June 2009, Gundog
training day in October 2009 and the Gundog Test of Work in April 2010.
We have plans for other events throughout 2010. Keep watching the website
for future event announcements.
If you wish to become a member of the South East Branch please contact
Lisa Baker for a membership form.
Please note you must be a fully paid up member of the main club before
you can join the branch.

Kennel Club conformation and movement seminar and hands on assessment
to be held on Saturday 20th November 2010
at Clapham and
Patching Village Hall, Worthing BN13 3UT.
If you are hoping to take
a first step on the ladder to being on a judging list, the morning
seminar, which is conformation and movement, is a vital part of the
progression and as Lisa says, it is ideal for anyone who owns dogs
and wants to know more about how they function and there is no test
or assessment involved. The afternoon seminar is for
aspiring judges, although anyone can take part, but bear in mind that
it involves some study beforehand
and a verbal
and written test on the day. Numbers for this one are strictly limited,
so please book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment – contact
Lisa by email or phone (number

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SOUTH EAST BRANCH FUNDAY AT
WORPLESDON SAT 24TH JULY 2010
This years annual funday was again a huge success and we added a variation
this year by extending it into a Companion Show - held under Kennel Club
rules and a good selection of all breeds attended.
As always we had a great turn out of weimaraners and everyone seemed to
enjoy the games and show even though we had severe traffic problems which
meant delaying the start to allow people and dogs not to miss out.
We held Pedigree and Novelty Classes which also included special Weimaraner
only classes.
The whole comittee was invloved including their families to help out and
make sure this years event was a success and they helped run the 'have
a go agility', the scurry + sausage retrieve, the egg +spoon race, the
tombola, the registration and refreshments (hot + cold drinks/hotdogs/burgers/cakes).
The show opened at 11am and judging started at 12.30 Christine Carpenter
judged the pedigrees and had an entry of 37 dogs and she chose an Australian
Terrier for BIS and Claire Ferguson's wei bitch Gallyocean Coral Blue as
BPIS.
Steve Redman judged the novelties and he had an entry of 76 and he chose
a Cavalier King Charles spaniel for BIS novelty, Best weimaraner was Steven
Miller's Beanie and Best Rescue Weimaraner was Jan Perry's Nelson.
Penhaligon Pets gave the 2 BIS weimaraner heads as trophies as well as
a lovely weimaraner lead holder for Best Weimaraner but all classes had
rosettes and prizes. All the games also had spot prizes for beat the time
on Scurry and Egg and Spoon races. Although the weims were beaten by a
German Sheppherd who held the fasted Scurry at 7.4 seconds.
The attending Committee also baked cakes to sell and made homemade dog
treats to sell and we all donated items to the tombola. There will be a
donation made to rescue and rehoming from the proceeds made from selling
them.
The weather was very kind to us - in fact a little too warm at times but
everyone who came seemed to have fun in a relaxed atmosphere with lots
of other weimaraners of all ages, breeding and backgrounds as well as other
breeds joining in which was our aim !
Everyone worked extremely hard on this and we must be particularly grateful
to the helpers without whom we could not have done it!
The South East Branch run several events through out the year and we are
hoping to run a Gun Dog Training day later in the year. So keep a look
out on the main club website for more informaion.
We run the South East Branch for our members. If anyone wants to join the
branch please contact Lisa Baker Membership and Treasurer on 023 92435051.
Or if anyone would like to join our comittee and give up a few hours to
help run these events please give Lisa Bishop a call on 01303 892598.
thankyou
