Welcome to the WCGB Rescue, Rehoming & Welfare Service Page

If you are considering giving a home to one of our rescue dogs, please contact a co-ordinator. She will then take some details from you about your home life and circumstances and then arrange a home visit. A member of the WCGB will contact you and arrange to call at a convenient time, hopefully bring along their own Weimaraner so you can see the size of dog in your home and ask any questions about the breed. Then he/she will report back to the co-ordinator. The main requirements are that you have a fully enclosed (6ft fencing) garden and you are not out at work all day. You will be asked to sign an adoption form and to make a donation to our rescue funds. All monies go towards the running costs.

If you need to rehome your Weimaraner, then contact a co-ordinator. She will ask questions about your dog which will help us find the right home for him/her. A member from the WCGB will be asked to contact you and to arrange a convenient time for your dog to be assessed in its own home. When your dog has been assessed, you will be sent a Release forms which you have to sign and return to the co-ordinator. We cannot rehome your dog until this paperwork is completed. The co ordinator will discuss the prospective new home with you and put the new owners in touch with you and you will meet them when they come to collect your dog.

From time to time we have a number of middle aged dogs who would make excellent pets, especially for people who are looking for a companion for a younger dog or for owners who have not had a Weimaraner before. Weimaraners are not old at 5+ and most go on to live until they are 13 +. Weimaraners can be trained at any age.

We do have new dogs coming in on a daily basis and it is not always possible to constantly update. We may have a dog that has just come into rescue that is not on the website that may suit you more than one listed.

We would like to take this opportunity of saying a BIG THANK YOU to all the Club members who give up their time to assess homes and dogs for us. Offers of help with either fostering a dog or transporting a dog are always appreciated. If you feel you can help with either of these requests please contact us.

Please remember that Club members who have bred a litter or used their dog at stud have a responsibility in helping with the rehoming of their stock.

NB: All the rescue coordinators are in touch with each other so PLEASE ONLY CONTACT ONE COORDINATOR to make an enquiry about any of the dogs listed or to rehome your dog.
